This is going to be a quick one, I am just updating to let you all know our weight for today. Last night was so ridiculous!! We took Savannah to the Rodeo and all i can smell and see is yummy food & drinks. It was SO hard. Savannah wanted popcorn - bought her popcorn, which means mommy & daddy had a few pieces. Although we had a few pieces (maybe a handful each) and then she had a snowcone which meant mommy had a couple bites. Other then that though, we were strong!!
Okay weigh-ins
John - 222.2
Krissi - 170.8
Going to update our tickers now.. Eeeeek so excited! STAY STRONG KRISTINE!

Hard, Very Hard
So I haven't blogged in a couple of days. Mainly that comes down to having school starting up this week so work and classes have taken over so much. I had posted a couple of days ago in the morning, Tuesday, that things had been easy and were going good. Well that was until that night. Once Tuesday night was here Krissi and I both had very rough days and were so ready to just eat a Chipotle burrito. Somehow though we held back and stayed true to the diet. We both said that we just were not going to leave the house, so that really helped. We had a really good grilled chicken dinner and after eating it really made things better. I know that if we would have cheated that night we would have felt full but sick to our stomachs for two reasons: Cheating on the diet, and eating all that fatty shit after almost 2 weeks.
Then guess what, before we knew it the same thing happened yesterday. The day was good on sticking to the diet and sure enough it came to last night when I got home. Rough days again for both of us and we wanted to just cheat again. Once again though we didn't and stuck to it. I cooked up some turkey burgers and we ate those for dinner, although they did taste pretty bland yesterday - that was probably all in the head though since that wasn't what we were craving.
I am just happy we made it through those two days. Today I woke up and made us some shakes again, we haven't had them in about 3 to 4 days. The shakes to me always seem to make the day start off good and make me full. Tonight we are having one of our favorite meals, the taco salad with turkey meat. So as long as nothing crazy happens we should have a good day and not worry about any major cravings tonight.
Tomorrow is our third time to weigh-in, day 12. So tomorrow morning either Krissi or I will blog on our current weight. So far the results are really coming in just like the doctor stated on the show and in the book. I really hope to see the teens again by the time we hit the 17 day mark, but we will see. At this rate it is very possible but I'm not getting my hopes up. I am more looking forward to the long term and getting to work out for longer periods again.
So tomorrow we will post our new weights and then we will be done with our first set of 17 days on this next Wednesday, less than a week to go!

Quick and Easy
Well today will be a short post. The main thing I want to talk about today is how easy things have gotten for us on the diet. We learned quickly how the diet works and what we can and cannot eat. We have even been able to experiment with stuff from what he wants us to eat too see if we like it. Last night went great as we had ground up turkey with peppers and other veggies. It turned out great. Not to mention that I also found some turkey sausage that I can now make for Krissi to have in the morning in place of her eggs. Things are going to good and easy now. The days are flying by and we don't even really notice all the other food around us. At this rate the first phase of 17 days is going to be over so damn quick and then it will be on to a new set of foods.

After the Weekend
Well this weekend was interesting like Krissi had stated. First was one of my good buddies birthday party this past Friday and although I drank water all night I did have one shot with him to celebrate. Which luckily we can have alcohol, red wine preferred, but just not something we are trying to add into the diet. We ended up going out Friday night after for some food but we both did good with just eating turkey and egg whites (seriously who orders that at a restaurant).
Saturday got crazy too as we already knew for the evening that we would probably have too cheat due to it also being Krissi's dad's birthday as well. After spending all day at the casinos and having fun without cheating we made it back down and went to eat mexican food. Luckily I was able to find a roasted chicken on the menu and ate that with just chopped up tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and salsa. That made it to where I didn't even have to cheat at all.
I was happy with Sunday since we were able to stick to the whole diet all day and not have to worry about going to any more dinners and such. Although Sunday night Krissi's dad did cook some bomb looking burritos but we stayed true to our grilled chicken and broccoli.
Then I woke up this morning to weigh myself in and I was sitting at 224.4! I was happy. I had lost another pound even with the crazy weekend we had. Now it is back to working out along with no more interruptions in the diet. Here is to another, hopefully, good week!!

Tough Weekend - Weigh in.
Wow, what a weekend. My sister flew in on Saturday morning to surprise my dad.. Oh wait, let me start over. Friday night was our friend Davids birthday. We went to this small bar for some drinks and Karaoke. Laura, James and Bill went with us and we had a great time. Despite the irritating waitress and some weird people in there. We were strong though. I had a glass of Merlot with Laura (which is allowed in my diet) and we had a shot each. Not bad. We went out to eat with Bill afterwards, but stayed as close to our diet as we could. I wouldn't necessarily call it a cheat because it was still really healthy. Saturday when Renee came in, we had already planned our food for the day. So we did all the family stuff, went to Blackhawk and as hard as it was - no drinks, no soda for me. I gambled and had a great time. Got a lot of walking in as we walked up and down the mountain. That night we had a cheat night. We went to a Mexican restaurant with my dad and John had grilled tacos and I had guacamole salad. So again, even though we cheated it wasn't awful. We didn't dive into fried foods or anything. Everyone with us had my FAVORITE drink and I had a sip of Nettas. Then that was it, back to my water.
Sunday - it was back to normal. As much fun as we had on Saturday - Sunday we were 100% dedicated again. We had breakfast and lunch at home and went to my moms to spend time with Renee. She made them some "wet" burritos and as good as they looked, John and I grilled our chicken and had our veggies. I was so very proud of us this weekend. I just didn't want Renee to leave! She was so interested in our diet and wants to start it up herself. :)
Now for the weigh in-
John - 225.6
Krissi - 171.8
We're gettin there!! Whooo!!

Day 5
Well I didn't blog yesterday but it actually turned out yesterday was the best day so far. I woke up feeling great and energized. Almost feeling like I could fly out of bed. I got up right away and went to weigh in. Sure enough the scale showed I lost a total of about 6.5 lbs so far on the scale. I was really surprised to see it because although I could feel the change in my body I just didn't believe anything with weight was happening yet.
In the book he states it's pretty typical to lose about 10 to 15 lbs in the first phase of 17 days. Being that it is the first week, Krissi and I both have really kept the working out small. So I know that part hasn't really helped in the weight loss, this is mainly all part of the diet. Next week since my body will be a little more adjusted my workouts will get a little more intense every evening with working out as hard as I can for 20 minutes. Then in the second phase I was happy to read that I can step up my workouts to about 45 to 60 minutes. That means I should hopefully be able to go back to the gym. I can guarantee that with workouts being mixed in more along with the diet (especially with the extra protein intake) that we will have a higher weight loss and even start seeing it in the mirror. Right now I still feel at that awkward stage where the scale tells me with number drops I have lost weight but I'm just not seeing it for myself yet. Hopefully soon enough though.
As I said earlier though yesterday was easy. We had a great dinner of turkey burgers with the patties laid out over lettuce, and tomatoes, low-card ketchup, and mustard on top - steamed broccoli on the side. It turned out to be a great dinner and Krissi even got a little full last night from the whole meal.
This weekend will definitely be the moment that we have to prove ourselves though with everything we have going on. I'll post again either Sunday or Monday and let everyone know how it went. I am sure that we will make it through the weekend flawlessly though with no issues.
Oh and as Krissi stated, we are planning to weigh in every 4 days except on the last 4 which will be 5 days. We will weigh in on day 17, the final day of this phase so that we know where we are standing. Well here is to the weekend and staying healthy!

Weigh in!
Today is day 4 which is our official weigh in day (John and I decided mutually to weigh in every 4 days.) I will post our weigh-ins at the end of this blog. I just wanted to update everyone on yesterday.. I didn't blog at all yesterday because, well frankly, mother nature kicked my ass! I was in so much pain (cramps) and felt so weak. My hormones were all over the place and food tasted like crap. I still ate all my meals except dinner. I ate about a quarter of my turkey roast (i did finish all my veggies) and then John made me some leftover taco salad and I ate about a quarter of that. So, even though I didn't eat a whole meal, I still had some protein in my body so I could fight fat overnight. Don't feel like I starved myself because I still ate A LOT yesterday. Tonight is open turkey burgers, so I am super excited for dinner! Not to mention, I get shakes again so I don't have to eat plain egg!! Yay!
I woke up today with plenty of energy and started cleaning right away. Savannah came out and I was climbing in the window taking down curtains to wash & wiping down the windows, she looked at me like I am a crackhead. I realized today was my last day to clean before our BIG weekend. (I cant speak about it publicly until Saturday) So without further adieu...
John - 225.3 (weight loss of 6.5lbs)
Krissi - 172.6 (weight loss of 5.2lbs)
I have to say, I am VERY pleased with the results thus far!!

Piece of Cake
Well yesterday was a piece of cake....not the great kind that I get to eat sadly though. The entire day seemed pretty easy with no issues. I woke up and fixed the rest of my food for the day and took off to work. Sadly I didn't realize that I forgot my eggs that I needed to put in my salad. I was proud of myself when I realized what I could do and how good I was. I went to Starbucks and bought one of their Spinach Egg Wraps (which are actually pretty healthy for you if you ever eat one normally). I then brought it back to my office and tore it open just to get the egg whites out of it and put it in my salad, then I gave the rest to a buddy of mine that wanted to eat it, LOL. Well the rest of the day went good but definitely got just a tad bit harder once I got home and the family and I made a trip to Target to pick up a few things. Of course my hungry little monster of a son was hungry so we had to buy them some bread sticks from the "Pizza Hut" Target counter. Man those damn things never smelled so good in my life. I could have taken the virginity away from that bread stick if it wasn't for the willpower. Krissi and I were both good though and survived without doing anything bad even with all the great smelling and beautiful food we saw while buying some more healthy stuff. All of this was probably really hard due to the fact that we hadn't eaten yet.
We got home and we made a Turkey Taco Salad. That thing was freaking phenomenal and it definitely hit the spot. There was even a little bit left over that we weren't even able to eat.
The rest of the night went good and we didn't snack or anything. Even with me staying up until about 1AM I was happy that I didn't find myself in the kitchen trying to snack on any little bag of chips for the kids. I got up a little behind schedule today but was still able to make sure that I got the last bit of food prepared for the day for Krissi and I.
Today we are having some shakes that I made for us from stuff we can use in the book. Egg whites, cup of fruit, 3/4 cup of egg whites (about 4 eggs), cup of milk, and 6 oz. yogurt. That right there will make a full 24 ounces of shake that we get to split up today. 12 ounces for breakfast and another 12 for one of our snacks today. Today is going to be another good day on the diet. Things are really getting easier to stick too without even trying so hard.

Day 2..
Today was actually a really good day. Aside from being tired most of the day (not because of the diet, because I didn't fall asleep until 4am and the kids got me up at 9) I felt great today. Breakfast of grapefruit & yogurt was SO much better than eggs, but tomorrow I go back to egg. Yuck! I really can not wait until the egg part is done. For dinner we had taco salad with ground turkey & taco sauce. It was SO Delicious! It seriously tasted like it was from a restaurant or something. No headaches today either, which is a BIG plus! John is also reporting he had no headaches today :)
John also just informed me that I get to add my eggs to my shake tomorrow instead of eating them!! That just made my day!! This is seriously the best diet I have ever done. I am dreaming of a summer filled with pretty dresses and high heels. I can not wait to take my kids swimming and not be insecure when the skinny girls in bikinis come by. Sure I may not be confident in myself to wear a bikini but at least I can rock a bathing suit without an extra cover over it.
Alright guys, I guess I didn't have much to say today except that I am proud of us! Thanks for all the words of encouragement!

First Day.....Finally Over
Well it is the morning of day two. I woke up feeling a lot better than I did last night. Around 2PM yesterday I started to feel a small headache come on which ended up growing into a massive pain in my head and ass by the evening. Luckily if finally began to go away with the help of some Advil by the time I got ready to lay down. Yesterday definitely started out great and got harder as we went on. Even though I had plenty of food to eat it was hard watching TV and not wanting to just grab something else. Luckily our dinner yesterday evening was good and subsided any horrible wants for fattening food. With the headache and everything else going on I finally decided to crash around 8:30. I woke up this morning feeling ten times better and everything already seems easier today after having to get through the first day.
The thing I find so fascinating and motivating with this diet is knowing that the current schedule of food I am on is only 17 days and then I get to add a whole new addition of foods to my diet for another 17 days, and so on. The one thing I have figured out with the diet is that it keeps you at a high level of protein throughout the entire day, helping to burn at any fat storage. Then any sugars you do eat, which are all good sugars and carbs, you eat all before 2PM so your body only has to worry about working on fat storage in the evening and overnight. The other hard thing is trying to keep up with the water intake. The water intake of 64 oz of water a day can be hard due to the fact of just forcing yourself to drink that much. If I go workout for a half our or full hour I can down 32 oz in the whole period, but sadly in this diet he doesn't want you to work out so hard.
So this leads me into my exercise routine I'll be working on this first phase. For now I am going to be doing the 100 push up test and the 200 push up test 3 times a week which should take up right at about 20 minutes to do. Helping build muscle, endurance, and cardio all in one. As for the other 4 days I'll end up doing around 20 minutes of "Insanity" for now mixed in with some other cardio stuff. Once I hit the second phase to third phase I am going to start going back to the gym and sparring again - boxing, kickboxing, and mma.
For now I am just happy to be past the first day and know I did great. I have done plenty of diets before and lost tons of weight but this diet definitely seems great compared to anything else. The best part is that even after one day I can already feel the change in my body with feeling cleaner and sharper.
Well here is to day two and many more to soon come.

Should be asleep..
Well day 1 wasnt that bad. My main issue today was FORCING myself to eat the eggs. Then in the middle of my day, I got an awful headache. My cramps were getting worse & my back started acting up thanks to the cold weather. Next thing I know, I am hunched over the toilet throwing up everything I just ate. So I went to lay down and I might have slept for a few minutes before John came in. We had a DELICIOUS dinner of Lemon pepper chicken and steamed veggies with a touch of soy sauce for flavor.
John felt really tired & had an awful headache (which in the book, he states its possible in the first couple days because the foods we are now eating are basically cleaning out the toxins from all the crap we ate before) so he went to bed around 8. I got the kids down and was watching tv when my mind started racing like a hooker on crack. I have been tempted to go grab something to snack on since I am watching football, but so far I have been good. The only additional food I had today was half a lemon. Obviously its not bad, but it just wasnt part of my schedule.
I am proud of John and myself though, we got all of our food for tomorrow prepared. I am looking forward to grapefruit and yogurt tomorrow and taco salad (with ground turkey) for dinner. Day 2 should be a lot easier.
Oh I wanted to explain something, if you made it this far that is. On this diet, there are 4 cycles of 17 days. So it is basically a 2 month diet. The first 2 cycles it is recommended we only workout for 17 minutes a day. We do not have enough going into our bodies to handle the energy it would take for a full on workout. Now dont get me wrong, I plan on staying with that as much as I can, but if I feel good while I am working out I am going to continue. I bought the Zumba for PS3 and my MJ Experience and my Kendra dvd. So I have a variety of things to keep me going and not get bored. John will have to update on his own workouts because we have a totally different exercise routine.
Okay looks like Auburn is about to win, so I am going to bed. Goodnight America and thanks for EVERYONES Support on this!!!

Not as motivated..
Well I woke up in severe pain this morning, caused by cramps. For those of you who dont know, I have dealt with endometriosis in the past and it feels like it has returned (the pregnancy with Phoenix actually healed me) So without getting too graphic, my periods are like death for me. I woke up and took a pain killer. I got up and had my water with lemon and started thinking about breakfast. Scrambled egg whites or boiled egg whites. So my options were limited since I cant scramble an egg! Haha So I went ahead and boiled my eggs and brewed my coffee while I wait.
The kids are being calm today which has helped me stay movitated. Sometimes when they wake up wild it sets me on a path of junk food for the entire day. So if I can make it through the first day then I can make it the rest of the way. I am actually looking forward to all the food on this diet, except breakfast. I wish I could just eat a grapefruit, but I understand I need protein. *sigh* stupid diets haha
So are you guys ready for my final weigh in, last night? Oh boy I cant believe I am doing this.. 177.8. Now I am not defending myself or making excuses, but I did weigh myself last wed and I was at 174 (which is my pre-pregnancy weight) but I am sure I have packed on a few pounds thanks to water retention.
Alright. Day 1 has begun!

First Day....Going Strong
Last night, before bed, I finally decided to step on the scale for the last time at my HEAVIEST I have ever been. I knew about where I was but definitely after seeing last night the numbers that came up I was completely disappointed and upset at myself with how bad I've become....in weight. I completely let myself go this past year and let to many past issues get to me. I took all that negative energy and regret and just turned it towards a food depression coma. Well now that time has come to an end. As of today, Monday, January, 10th, 2011, Krissi and I have started the 17 Day Diet. After reading the book over the weekend and seeing what it is all about I have so much confidence in the whole thing. The worst part is just trying to remember to eat so much, not even having to eat healthy.
As of last night though the scale told me I was at 231.8 pounds. As of a little over a year and a half ago I was weighing in at a great 185 pounds. My goal is to get back there over the next few months and get ready for the "Tough Mudder" event this Summer. Can't wait!!
Well I woke up this morning feeling great and ready to hit this diet head on. Prepared and grabbed all of my food. Even though it is only the morning of the first day on the diet I can already tell this is going to be easier than what I expected before. Especially with Krissi doing this with me I don't have any worries that we will get through this diet and feel ten times better within just a week, not to mention 2 months (the full diet timeline). Well here is to a fresh start!

17 Day Diet ~ Krissi
Today is our last day of being FAT! We are starting the "17 day diet" tomorrow. I saw this diet and the Dr who wrote it on "The Doctors" on NBC. I was pleased with the way this diet works, mostly because it just forces you to eat correctly and the stories are really motivating. We went grocery shopping this morning and our house looks like a page out of Whole Foods magazine or something. We cleaned out our cabinets and took all our extras to my moms, because my dad is a bottomless pit sometimes haha.
So we will be posting our first weigh in tonight and will continue on from there. Please help us stay motivated, I am tired of being fat :(
